Back in the early 1980’s, I was one of the first female surfers on Maui. People would come running up to me on the beach to say how much they’d love to learn to surf like me. But it looked so hard to do.
That got me thinking about steps to simplify surfing so everyone could do it. I developed and perfected an easy and fun technique that worked with beginners and even people afraid of the water. Thus, my slogan— Specializing in Beginners and Cowards
Over the course of the next 20 years at the first and original Maui surfing school, I taught tens of thousands of people from all walks of life and in all levels of physical conditioning to surf. This method is tried and true. Your grandma can do this. Just imagine her video posted on YouTube!
Like all good news, my teaching technique spread like a wave across the islands and the rest of the world. Now
