Sailing on Maui
One of my favorite things to do on Maui or anywhere – SAILING! If you have not sailed before you have got to try it. Sailing on Maui is outrageous in a peaceful, serene way. Maui is the perfect place to sail with the trade winds that typically come up in the afternoon. Sometimes they are gentle and sometimes they really blow. Either way, plan on having tons of fun! There are many sailing charters on Maui and they go to different locations. Molokini is a popular spot and one of the most fun trips because they include snorkeling, continental breakfast, nice lunch, tons of fish to view at Molokini and just a fun trip in general. On the way back, the winds can really be blowing so be prepared to ‘fly’ across the water. It’s exciting an it’s fun. There are trips that explore the South Shore and Maui’s West Shore. Many stop at secluded beaches and you have a chance to explore the reefs and the fish. Other sailboats just sail, period!
Some of the different sailboats you can experience are:
· A 47’ catamaran that is one of the fastest in Hawaii and Maui
· A 12 meter America’s Cup sailboat that was actually in the Cup race in 1987
· A 50’ Santa Cruz sailboat that won the 1984 Victoria to Maui Race. One fast boat!
· A 64’ Catamaran
Have fun with this one ..And viewing Maui from the water is a must!!
